FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Community Forums on School Attendance Zone Maps Scheduled
Nash County Residents and the Nash County Public Schools (NCPS) community are invited to attend two upcoming forums to discuss the Proposed School Attendance Zone Maps for Nash County Public Schools, which encompass elementary, middle, and high schools. These forums are key opportunities for public engagement and insight into the proposed new school attendance zones.
Dates and Locations:
Monday, April 15, at 6 p.m. at Winstead Avenue Elementary (Gym)
Wednesday, April 17, at 6 p.m. at Nash Central High (Gym)
Nash County Public Schools has organized these meetings. The Proposed School Attendance Zone Maps result from the upcoming demerger of Nash County Public Schools into Edgecombe County Public Schools, including the reassignment of schools within the eastern part of Nash County.
The forums will allow the community to review the proposed maps and engage in a Q&A session to express questions and concerns. Community participation in these discussions is important for fostering open dialogue about the future of Nash County Public Schools post-demerger.
NCPS sought the Operations Research and Education Laboratory (OREd) at the Institute for Transportation Research and Education (ITRE) to develop the maps. OREd, known for its collaboration with school districts in North Carolina and elsewhere, tackles challenges like site selection for new schools, consolidating schools, designing attendance zones, and achieving demographic balance. OREd conducts thorough research and analysis to enhance educational accessibility in line with community needs and demographic shifts.
