Please review the updated information carefully: We need your help to make this Thursday, October 31, unforgettable at Coopers Elementary! We have two exciting events planned, and your support will make all the difference! First up, the Pumpkin Decorating & Creative Writing Contest. If you’re available Thursday morning, we’d love to have you join us to support this spooktacular event! Click here to sign up: https://bit.ly/3AbBBCT Then, to celebrate our Bulldogs PAWSITIVE behavior, we need 25 volunteer families to decorate their trunks and hand out treats at our famous Trunk or Treat event beginning at 11:30 on Thursday! Good Evening Bulldogs, We want to start by thanking you all for your overwhelming support of our Candy Man fundraiser! The final numbers are in, and our PTO will be announcing the top-selling students soon—stay tuned. This Monday we have a gentleman from the Cub Scouts who will be at school in the library at 5:00 for any parents who are interested in receiving more information or signing your child up. He will be on campus from 5:00-5:45pm. This upcoming week is one of my favorite weeks of the year- Red Ribbon Week. Red Ribbon Week is an annual event to raise awareness and educate youth about the dangers of drugs. Each day this week is themed: Monday- Drugs are Wacky - Wear Crazy Socks Tuesday- Put a lid on drugs- wear your favorite hat Wednesday- Turn your back on drugs- wear your clothes backwards Thursday- Say Boo to Drugs- Story book Character day (described below) Friday- Proud to be Drug Free- Wear Red from head to toe On Thursday, October 31, we’re kicking off the morning with our annual Pumpkin Decorating and Creative Writing contests. If your child is participating, make sure to bring their pumpkin or writing sample to the gym for check-in between 7:30 AM and 9:00 AM. Don’t worry, we’ve got extra slips if you need them. Next up on the 31st, we’ve got the always popular Book Character Parade, starting at 8:30 AM on the outside track. For your child to participate, they need to wear a school-appropriate costume and have a copy of the book their character is from. And Bulldogs—no weapons as props! Families are welcome to come and pump up the fun as spectators! In the afternoon of the 31st is where the real treats are, with our first PBIS Celebration of the year—our famous Trunk or Treat! Thank you to the families who’ve volunteered to deck out their trunks and pass out some sweet treats. If you’re volunteering a trunk, please arrive on campus by 10:30 AM to set up. Our patch of trick-or-treaters will start strolling through at 11:30 AM, and the event will wrap up by 2:00 PM so we can roll into car line. (Again, this is a PBIS event so students have to earn the privilege of going to this event by having positive behavior this 9 weeks.) Last but not least, this Friday is our first Awards Day celebration of the year. This year, each 9 weeks will be followed by an Awards Day. Every child will not be receiving an award at this particular event. If your child is getting an award, they will receive a golden half piece of paper with the time and information listed for you so that you can attend if you are able in their take home folder. Thank you again for all of your support and I look forward to a week of learning and Fall Fun at Coopers this week.

Good Evening Bulldogs. Another wonderful week has come and gone. Bulldog families, this is a friendly reminder that our Candy Man fundraiser is coming to an end soon! All student paper packets and online orders are due by Monday, October 21. We truly appreciate your support in making this fundraiser a success, and we’re so grateful for all the hard work and participation from our students and families. Your contributions help make a positive difference for our school! Thank you again for your ongoing support, and let’s finish strong! And, if you need a good laugh this weekend, please check out the two promotional videos that Mrs. Lane and Champ (the Bulldog) filmed this week. You don't want to miss what those two have been up to! This Thursday is early release and this Friday is a mandatory teacher workday. Students will be released from school at 1:00pm on Wednesday and they will not come to school on Friday. It has been shared with our 4th and 5th grade students that if they would like to audition to be a part of our morning news crew, their letters of interest are due to Mrs. Land by this Thursday, October the 24th. Interviews for the various positions will be on the 30th. More information can be found on the ROOMS app. This Wednesday, our Kindergarten students will be walking over to the Fire Station for their first field trip. Parents, please make sure you have signed and returned your child’s permission slip if you have not already done so. Last but not least, parents please make sure you are continuing to check our online calendar for upcoming events on our school website. Next Friday, November 1st we will have our first awards day. As a school, we have decided to have an awards day at the end of each 9 weeks, instead of one large one at the end of the year. We want to celebrate students and their accomplishments throughout the year. We will send home slips with students if they are receiving an award in case parents or family members would like to join us. All students will not necessarily get an award each 9 weeks. Thank you all again for your continued support and I hope everyone has a great weekend. Good Evening Bulldogs, I hope everyone has enjoyed this beautiful weekend! I want to start off by giving a huge shout out to all of our students, parents, staff, and volunteers for helping us out at the school yesterday for beautification day. We had a great turn out and the end result looks amazing! Thank you, thank you, thank you for helping to make Coopers look great again!~ Also, thank you to everyone who helped and contributed to our school record book fair last week. To say that it was a success is an understatement. I think the bookfair raised over $10,000. Thank you again to everyone who helped, whether purchasing or volunteering. Candyman- Our Candyman fundraiser is still going on. This is the last week of the sales. Candyman orders are due next Monday, the 21st. We would love to have all of our students be able to attend the Candyman main event in November. This Tuesday is our PTO’s general membership meeting. The doors will open at 5:30 and the meeting will begin at 5:45pm. The meeting will be in our library. We would love to see everyone here for this event and for everyone to see what is happening at Coopers! This upcoming week is also our Pink Campaign to support the UNC Health Nash Foundation, being led by our ACE club students. Tomorrow, Monday Oct. 14th, we ask that all students and staff wear Pink in honor of breast cancer month. Please let this be a reminder that we all need to take our health serious and complete the proper and routine screenings. Our ACE students will also be selling blow pops for $1 Wednesday through Friday of this week to raise money for their selected organization. This Friday is also hat day. Students can wear a hat for $1 and that money will also go to the ACE club and their supported foundation. This Wednesday is Unity Day. Everyone is asked to wear orange in support of no bullying. We want our school, community, and world to be a bully free environment. Last but not least, this week we will have a Boy Scout leader on campus explaining to students, both boys and girls, what it takes to become a member of a boy scout or girl scout troop. Parents, you are invited to come out to the school this Thursday from 5-6pm in the library to get more information and/or sign your child up with a local troop. Thank you and I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!~ Take care.
